Why this site exists

There's no shortage of guides to Estonian e-Residency. Most of them were written in 2020 or 2021 by formation agencies trying to sell you something, and most of them haven't been updated since. eresidentguide.com exists to be the version of this content that's actually accurate in 2026.

What we do

We research and write independent guides to Estonian e-Residency and company formation. That means: reading the actual legislation, checking the current figures against official Estonian government sources, talking to accountants who deal with these structures daily, and updating pages when things change rather than leaving stale information online because it still drives traffic.

We cover formation, banking, tax, compliance, and the country-specific complications that generic guides skip entirely. The substance rules. The FATF banking friction for founders from certain jurisdictions. The XBRL-only annual report format. The August 2025 VAT registration change. The things that actually trip people up.

What we don't do

We are not a formation agency. We don't register companies, provide legal addresses, or act as your contact person in Estonia. We don't provide legal or tax advice and we're not a substitute for a qualified advisor in your jurisdiction.

We compare formation agencies and banking providers honestly, including their costs and limitations, rather than pushing whoever pays the highest affiliate commission. Some links on this site are affiliate links and we do earn commissions when people sign up through them. That's disclosed clearly on every page and in our affiliate disclosure. It doesn't change what we say about the providers.

How we stay current

Every article carries a "last verified" date. When rules change (and they do: the VAT registration rules changed in August 2025, the dividend tax rate situation was in flux through late 2025, the FATF list updates regularly) we update the relevant pages rather than leaving outdated information live.

If you spot something that's out of date or factually wrong, please contact us. This site is most useful when it's accurate, and corrections are always welcome.
